Up Before the Light of Dawn

Milwaukee WI to Greenville MI
Lake Express Ferry Across Lake Michigan to Muskegon MI
57 Miles

Patrick picked me up at 4:30 AM to drive to the ferry. It was great to see everyone gathering in the parking lot as we loaded luggage and unloaded bikes to begin our journey today. We tied up our bikes then watched the sun rise over the lake before we returned to our seats to rest during the two and a half hour ferry ride.
When we docked in Muskegon we were met by Larry's wife Joy and several of their friends from Michigan who greeted us with a fantastic sign and Michigan mittens to symbolize the shape of the state. Jill from Lake Express who assisted with our arrangements was on hand to take a photo of our group and wish us well on this next leg of our trip.
We then began riding as a group on a well paved bike path before we returned to rolling country roads.

Joy and Tessa prepared an amazing lunch and included many vegan options including fresh baked vegan blueberry muffins.
We then continued on our way riding as a group with Nancy, Patrick, Nevin, Pete, Mary and myself. Chris drive our van today and tomorrow is my turn. Chris also found a new orange cone for us as two were lost in the last few weeks.

We had dinner as a group at a local brew pub and bistro.

Special thanks to Joy and Tessa Kegel who is joining us through Canada for all they did today to support the riders. Joy even helped with Nancy and my laundry.
